We're always looking for ways to make the newsletter better so if you have any suggestions for regular topics, articles or contributors let me know. We are just about to undergo a re-design so new content ideas would be great right now. Also, if you want to contribute why not submit your own "three things" or share your "three favourite websites" for recruiters. Weekly Tips - If I've Learnt 3 things... 1. Always deliver - It’s far too easy to promise the earth in order to impress and then fail to deliver. Knowing what you can achieve and being upfront about this is, in my experience, far more important in the longer term than any short term promises. This may even sometimes mean saying no to potential opportunities but again this is better than failing to deliver in the end. Promise only what you know you can achieve. Your candidates & clients will think more of you for it. 2. Make the most from your client relationships - The best performing consultants, divisions or recruitment businesses are usually those that maximize the return from their clients. I have so often seen client lists that are pages long with very little return across each of them. Fully understanding your clients, building strong rapport, networking and good internal communication will lead to deeper penetration of your brand within your client base. Focusing on revenue per client and ensuring every of part of your business has success across each client will lead to long term committed client relationships that will be invaluable in the success and growth of your business. 3.
Look after your people - Finding and retaining the best people is possibly the most critical aspect of any business but this is especially the case within recruitment. They represent you and your brand from an early point in their career. They are the engine of your business and when motivated and trained well will be the key in delivering results and service. Their experience, knowledge and billings will enable future growth with new business wins, succession planning and the training and mentoring of new staff. Having a robust people plan has, always for me, been at the forefront of any business planning.
