Key Insight From Recruitment Managing Directors

I love the idea behind this and it’s certainly a format I plan to “borrow” sometime soon! Stephen Hart has interviewed managing directors of recruitment companies in the Yorkshire area and has put together an e-book, with a fabulous title, compiling the results; Musings and thoughtful considerations on the recruitment industry by industry leaders.

Stephen asked each MD four (simple) questions and whilst there is a breadth of responses almost every company questioned is looking to expand and they are seeing clear challenges ahead that they need to address.

The questions are:
Where do you see the biggest challenge to recruitment firms coming from in 2015?
What advice would you give to a new recruiter coming into the industry in 2015?
Given both the continued increase of social media recruiting by companies directly and the increase in internal recruitment teams, how can external recruiters still add value to their clients?
What do you think is the most important skill for a recruiter to master?

Whilst I’m tempted to share the highlights I’m not going to give it all away by sharing anything here as it’s so worthwhile to read the report yourself.

However, is it a spoiler to share the four conclusions that Stephen found himself coming to when reviewing the answers….

1.It’s going to get harder to find talented candidates so cultivating a network of passive contacts is essential
2.The ability to stand out from other recruiters and be memorable is vital – both with clients and candidates
3.There is a definitive need to be more than a simple recruiter. We need to embrace the ‘consultant’ part of our title more than ever before And my final conclusion is this.
