600 Things; 10 ways to resign as a Recruiter

  1. A Recruiter having a bad moment – Collect a single square of toilet paper and write “I quit” using the bosses white board marker. (true story!)
  2. Manual Recruiter – Scream at your boss “This is not the 80’s”, wipe your hand across the company white board, steal the lever arch folder of job specs, the roller-dex of clients and march out the office with the ‘CV folder’ on your memory stick. Then call a decent CRM for the start-up offer – when you’ve chilled a little.
  3. Recruiter on a plane – Pop a bottle of champagne while shouting “see-ya la-hoo-zerrrs!” – Pull the handle and take the rubber slide!
  4. A Top Billing Recruiter – Very politely – you’re going to get counter offered
  5. Recruitment administrator – Quickly. There are recruitment systems out there that mean you could be made redundant at any time.
  6. IT Recruiter – Resign before you get spotted for connecting to ‘pretty’ people on LinkedIN and forgetting you’re there to Recruit
  7. In-house Recruiter – Think twice about resigning – You’re cheaper than an agency and is it really that hard to do a better job than the HR department?
  8. A Sneaky (yet polite) Recruiter (this may not include you) “Thanks for the opportunity Boss, I’ve learnt everything from you and I’ve earnt a decent living in one of the most exciting industries but I’ve decided to go traveling for 18 months (Read as: I’m setting up next door as your newest competitor).
  9. 90’s Wideboy Recruiter – Lift your super-wide tie onto your forehead (adding board marker stripes on your face) and in your best Rambo voice say “It’s over Jonny”
  10. A Recruiter who wants a change of career – Resign politely and call Voyager. Ex-Recruiters make great trainers, support staff and Account Managers
