Last week I caught up with Katharine Robinson of Sourcing Hat to have a chat about her new Discover Sourcing (#DiscSource) event that takes place in London this September. I thought I’d turn it into an interview and share it here:
What is Discover Sourcing?
It’s an event all about bringing people together to learn. I’ve run several sourcing meetups and magic things always happen when recruiters and sourcers get together in person.
I thought it would be great to have a large event dedicated to talent sourcing techniques – that means any activity that might get a candidate into the recruitment process – so Discover Sourcing was born. We’ll be covering everything from search engines to social networks and from sourcing tools to job advertising. There will also be lots of opportunities to chat, network and share with peers.
Who is Discover Sourcing aimed at?
It’s aimed at recruiters, sourcers and research types from both recruitment businesses and in-house teams. The sort of recruiters that get a kick out of finding the unfindable – or finding ten of them! The sort of recruiter that’s a bit of a geek – enjoys looking at the numbers, making the line on the graph go up, trying out all the new tools and websites.
Whether you’re new to sourcing, an experienced practitioner, or you wonder how it might fit into your team’s recruiting mix, there’ll be something new for you to discover.
The workshop on Day One is aimed at active recruiters and sourcers that want to stretch their skills. There will be things to learn, challenges to take part in and prizes to win.
The conference on Day Two day will have content of interest to everyone. There will be a choice of case studies and presentations aimed at Heads of Recruitment and Business owners as well as the option to attend very practical “how to” sessions and discussions for those who are sourcing as part of their day to day job.
Did I spot something about a Sourcing Challenge?
Yes. There will be a sourcing challenge running ahead of the event with prizes for the best performers. All I can say at the moment is that you should keep an eye on the event website or the hashtag #DiscChallenge. Sorry to be so mysterious, but I couldn’t possibly give too much away.
How do potential attendees get tickets?
There are two types of ticket. A Full Pass that will give you access to both days of Discover Sourcing, or a Conference Pass that will get you into the conference event on Day Two.
