Outsourcing: in a nutshell

Outsourcing, put simply, is when a business pays another company or individual to do tasks that they either don’t want to do or can’t do in-house. Outsourcing, as a way of working, has increased dramatically in recent years and is a great way of cutting costs, reducing risk and giving small and medium sized business (SMB) owners and managers more time to focus on profit-making activities. A solution that’s suited to any size of business; there are some real advantages to be gained.

Using outsourcing to reduce costs

One of the key reasons most business owners and managers give for outsourcing is to reduce costs. There’s no getting away from the fact that employing people is an expensive business. Particularly in today’s litigious climate, more and more SMB owners and managers are thinking twice before adding someone to their payroll. Not only do costs increase significantly when you increase your headcount, but the risk of having disgruntled employees also rises. This is one of the great reasons that outsourcing makes such good sense.

Managing risk more effectively by outsourcing

Just being a business owner brings risks, there’s no getting away from that. However the regulatory burden that falls on most business owner’s shoulders these days, at some point or another, starts to weigh them down. No matter whether it’s industry-specific red tape or just making sure you have your HR t’s crossed and i’s dotted, you’d be forgiven for thinking that running a business today is all about following rules and filling in forms.

When it comes to making sure that you stay on the right side of the rules and regulations that affect your business specifically and businesses in general, outsourcing has a major role to play. Enabling you to ‘buy in’ expertise on a ‘needs’ basis, paying only for what you need; outsourcing allows you to rest assured that your obligations are being met, on time and accurately.

Outsourcing lets you do what you do best

How many business owners have you spoken to recently who’ve said, “if only I had more time, I’d be out there selling more, or developing more business”? Very few entrepreneurs go into business to carry out bookkeeping or payroll tasks or to fill in forms; they go into business because they are passionate about what they do or they get a buzz from sealing a deal.

If you’re finding that more and more of your time is being taken up with mundane, day-to-day tasks, then outsourcing could be just the solution you’re looking for. Enabling you to clear your desk, as well as the desks of your key players of things that are stopping them from getting down to the real profit-making tasks of your business, outsourcing is well worthy of consideration.
