Last week we held our third directors only event of the year (with Arithon, Forest Group, Oil & Gas Jobsearch, Colleague Software and Roy Ripper sponsoring). These are our small group learning and networking events specifically for Directors of recruitment businesses.
This one, with around 60 Directors in attendance, had four excellent speakers:
Graeme Read
Graeme spent 17 years with Antal International, latterly as Group Managing Director. His experience is in Recruitment Start Ups, Growing businesses, M&A, Executive Search, International Recruitment and Search & Selection. Graeme spoke about making lemonade from lemons; sharing his own experiences of his last 20 years in the industry and the lessons learned along the way!
Adrian Treacy
COO for The Arrows Group of companies, Adrian spent the first four years of his career as a Permanent Consultant Huxley Brand in the S3 Group. Adrian joined James Parsons (who spoke at a previous Directors event) in 2003 to establish Arrows Group and was responsible for their international growth into Holland and Germany and is continuing to expand Arrows internationally into America and Asia. Adrian talked about international and niche recruitment and some of the challenges they faced.
Roy Ripper
Roy is a best selling author, speaker and coach to the recruitment industry. Roy has worked in the recruitment industry for nearly 30 years and trained over 37,500 recruiters worldwide. Additionally he has built three very profitable staffing companies of my own. Roy shared some great tips of how to capitalise upon content and gain engagement with potential clients and candidates.
Our group session was run by Dan McDevitt of Hooked who in just 30 minutes got the group well on the way to a better elevator pitch. As part of his session he also shared the tale of the world’s first elevator pitch (worth checking out!).
Post event feedback told us 100% of attendees enjoyed the event and I’m going to share just two of the comments for the blatant purpose of enticing you to attend future events…
A really well-organised afternoon….
It was interesting, well organised and of benefit to meet other directors in similar positions but within different sectors, so no threat of talking to them like competitors.
Our next Directors event is on 2nd October and early bird tickets are half price over the summer.
