Blog Awards 2015 – What the judges are looking for

file5381291239055Nominations end on Friday 13th November for this year’s UK Recruitment Blog of the Year Awards.  We’ve dusted off the judging criteria from last year and our Chief Judge, Andy Headworth, has updated it a little in some areas.

Broadly speaking the judges will marking in these areas: quality of writing, volume of posts, blog design, range of post content, information on the author and use of technology.

On a personal level I’m going to be I’m looking for a blog that’s engaging, interesting and easy to read, which is regularly updated and is obviously written by a real recruiter (or industry expert) sharing their experiences of the day to day!

I asked Alan Whitford, who has been a judge for us for many years what he will be looking for when judging:  I will be looking for regular and consistent posting (not just once a month), with original thinking. Content should reference facts or incidents of a personal nature that may impact the readers’ ideas about recruitment. The basics of language, spelling and grammar, as well as the social sharing links, are critical. Martin Bramall from Idibu is joining us as a judge in 2015 and  he’d “like to see something that really connects and engages with the reader, ideally something that educates as well as entertains and that really brings the subject matter to life.”
