Recruitment Channel Report

Top Consultant have an advert in our newsletter today which mentions their free Recruitment Channel Report.  I thought I ought to stay in the loop so downloaded a copy.

It’s a really interesting document.  The report is based on a survey of 1,000 management consultancy candidates and 140 management consultancy recruiters.

The report looks at trends in recruitment, retention, remuneration and the effectiveness of different recruitment channels.  It also contains for the best management consultancy recruitment agencies and job boards (as voted by the candidate’s surveyed).

With Tony Restell’s permission, I am going to share the “key messages” that emerged from this year’s  report:

Conclusion # 1 – Recruitment agencies and internet job boards now account for over 60% of all applications made by consultants.

Conclusion # 2 – Personal referral or bounty schemes are candidates’ preferred means of finding new employment; working on improving the take-up of your scheme could pay considerable dividends

Conclusion # 3 – Corporate careers pages have been created to streamline the recruitment process, not to maximise the appeal of the firm. Those firms able to change this aspect of their sites will reap considerable competitive advantage.

Conclusion # 4 –  Newspapers should be considered when there is a consulting supplement or special edition, which act as a draw to suitable candidates; but as a regular recruitment channel for consultants their effectiveness is now in some doubt.

There are a lot more findings in the report so my advice would be to request your own free copy by emailing Bryan Hickson (bryan@top-consultant.com).
