This week I was at the Talent Trends 2016 conference. It was a one day networking event packed with industry-led presentations. The presentations included graduate recruitment, trends in 2016, peer review sites, social media and tracking talent. The day ended with a panel debate discussing the aforementioned trends and tips on recruitment marketing and I was delighted (petrified) to have the opportunity to moderate this session with a panel consisting of:
Chris Wray, National Recruitment Manager, Anchor Trust
Claire Steiner, UK Director, Global Travel & Tourism Partnership (GTTP)
Linda Rolf, Director, Linda Rolf Associates
Lee Biggins, Founder, CV-Library
It was a really great event with lots of interesting speakers and some great information shared including:
48% of graduates looking for work watch employer videos as part of their decision making process
The 2:1 degree entry criteria is used by 77% of employers when hiring grads (not Ernst & Young though who have removed degree classification from entry criteria as they say there’s ‘no evidence’ university equals success!)
The average cost to hire a graduate is £4,829
65% of employers have a marketing budget (increasing year on year).
Research from Raw Talent stated that 25% of respondents hadn’t made a phone call in the past 7 days!!
LinkedIn’s research showed that 2/3rds of companies are increasing their spend on mobile this year.

< there was a great slide on how to build a brand to attract the right talent. From @milkroundrec but relevant to all employers
During the panel we touched on use of mobile in recruitment (just do it because didn’t you know Why 2015 is (was) the Year of Mobile Recruiting) and how to elevate the employer brand. I like this article from LaunchPad on 10 quick ways to improve your employer brand and this Glassdoor tips article to back up what we talked about.
At the very end we each shared our key takeaway from the event – and this was mine:
