The job board space is a tough one to enter, however as the “gig economy” grows sites which connect temporary workers thrive. Recently I was given a sneak peak at Beelancer.co.uk, a new platform (not actually a job board by the way) for recruiters to advertise their contractors on. The website is set up a bit like Amazon, with recruiters (not retailers) advertising contractors (not books) to be hired by companies at the click of a button.
Basically the site lets recruiters promote their contractors to a bigger audience of companies than they can through cold-calls or mailshots.
“Recruiters are great at finding and screening contractors, but struggle to market them” says founder Jean Thor Pontet, who was a director of a recruitment agency before starting the site that he believes will champion contract recruiters. He explains why he started the site in this post.
Unlike platforms that exclude recruiters, Beelancer.co.uk is not available for contractors to use themselves, only recruiters can use the site. To do this, recruiters sign up and create profiles of their contractors, including profile photos and day rates that include the recruiter’s fee. Companies searching the site are said to include Facebook, Deliveroo and Accenture.
It’s an interesting concept and I’m keeping an eye on how they get on.
