How to Run Amazing Online Events

As well as running many many events on the RecruiterZone channel I also work with other businesses to help them create and run their own events.  Here are a few simple tips for anyone looking to run amazing online events.

Hosting an online event can be a great way to connect with your audience, showcase your products or services, and drive revenue. However, running an online event can be challenging, especially if you’re new to the process. Here are some tips for running an amazing online event that will engage your audience and achieve your business goals.

  1. Set clear objectives and goals. Before you start planning your event, it’s important to have a clear understanding of what you want to achieve. Are you looking to generate leads, increase sales, or simply raise awareness of your brand? By setting clear objectives, you can ensure that your event is aligned with your business goals.
  2. Choose the right platform. There are a variety of platforms available for hosting online events, such as Zoom, Webex, and GoToWebinar – my personal favourite is Crowdcast (in fact I also work for them!). Each platform has its own set of features and capabilities, so it’s important to choose the one that best suits your needs. Consider factors such as the number of attendees, the type of event, and the level of interactivity you want to achieve.
  3. Promote your event effectively. Once you’ve selected your platform and set your objectives, it’s time to start promoting your event. Use a variety of channels to reach your target audience, including email, social media, and paid advertising. Be sure to also include a registration page on your website, so people can easily sign up for the event.
  4. Engage your audience. Keeping your audience engaged is key to running a successful online event. Use interactive features such as polls, Q&A sessions, and live chat to encourage participation. You can also provide a recording of the event for those who couldn’t attend.
  5. Follow up with your attendees. After the event, be sure to follow up with your attendees to thank them for participating and ask for feedback. This will help you improve your future events, and also it’s a great way to build a relationship with your attendees.
  6. Measure your results. To measure the success of your event, track key metrics such as attendance, engagement, and conversions. This will help you understand what worked well and what didn’t, and make data-driven decisions for future events.

In conclusion, running an amazing online event requires careful planning, promotion, and execution. By setting clear objectives, choosing the right platform, promoting your event effectively, engaging your audience, following up with attendees and measuring your results, you can create an online event that achieves your business goals and leaves a lasting impression on your audience.
