This week I have been contacting all the UK job boards on our site to ask them to update or confirm the details we publish on them. There are around 450 sites listed and we do this update every six months.
Over 30 emails immediately bounced back. About 20 were because the email address they had given to me when they asked to be listed on the site is no longer in use. At first I was huffing to myself, thinking "how inconsiderate… not updating their details". Then Exec-Appointments sent me a note reminding me of a link they kindly added to their site with my contact details on. And, you’ve guessed it – MY email address and phone number were wrong (and obviously had been since August 2005 when we moved)!
Anyway, the real point I was going to make is that the other 10 emails that bounced were because the job board had closed down. I know the job board market is tough but it’s still sad to get that bounce back and know that someone’s dreams have been shattered.
And a lot are the same when you try to buy media as well!
