At our technology showcase event on 16 October we only have one speaker session; the keynote. The day is jam packed with content including our trademark speed-demo sessions, speedy two-minute elevator pitches from all exhibitors, expert led workshops and a fun debate session. However, we only have one speaker. So no pressure there for us to get the right one AND no pressure on whoever takes on the challenge.
I’m very confident we’ve got someone fabulous lined up for 16th October. Dan McGuire is possibly the most popular guy in recruitment. He’s a serial entrepreneur and recruitment industry veteran who is genuinely a nice chap too. I might be slightly biased having known him for well over 10 years, but based on feedback when he spoke at our end of year conference in 2013 he IS a great presenter.
He’ll be opening our technology showcase event talking about how recruitment agencies need to think strategically about buying technology, how to align technology buying decisions with company strategy and why it’s important to see it as an investment. He’ll also what you need to know about technology to make your business successful in this changing market (and he may also give a few tips on how to build a million pound organisation).
Dan will also stay with us for most of the day so you can ask him about any of specialities which include online recruitment, social enterprise, online job advertising, recruitment, Internet, mentoring, sales/new business, fast growth, technology, brand building, exiting a business and world travel!
If you want to know more about Dan here is his profile:
I own and invest in technology businesses.
In May 2011 I founded cube19 to bring actionable analytics and gamification technology to the global recruitment and staffing market. The application was launched in May 2012 and cube19 was listed by Startups.co.uk as one of the Top 20 startups of that year.
I was an early stage investor in Ebsta where I sit on the board. Ebsta provides LinkedIn and Gmail integration for Salesforce.com
I served as Chairman of Juice for 18 months after providing the seed capital for the company. Juice is an on-demand video learning application for recruiters and sales people.
In 2002 I acquired a stake in job ad distribution startup Broadbean Technology when it had no customers and no website, becoming managing director. Over the next 6 years we grew the business into the 7th fastest growing technology company in EMEA (Deloitte Fast 50).
In October 2008 we sold Broadbean to Daily Mail and General Trust plc, a £2bn UK based media company. I left the company in November 2010.
I am a big supporter of social enterprises and served on board of The Small Business Consultancy, a social enterprise that inspires people from hard to reach and difficult/deprived backgrounds to become successful through progressing towards employment and self-employment.
Prior to that I sat on the board of Young Enterprise London and the Advisory Council of The Aldridge Foundation.
I won the 2007 CBI/Real Business Young Entrepreneur of the Year award, featured in Growing Business Magazine’s Young Guns ‘Class of 2008’ (top 30 entrepreneurs under 35) and in 2009 was named Online Recruitment Personality of the Year.
