Top 5 Most Sought After Positions

I recently wrote a blog post about the top 10 Degree Subjects for Getting a Job. I then came across, also from The Telegraph; the Most Sought-after Degrees in Clearing.  It got me thinking about the most sought after jobs.

I thought I’d put together a list of types of positions that I think are most sought after by clients from a range of sectors AND which are highly paid and offer decent chances of career elevation (in theory making them perfect for candidates too).

Could recruiting these roles alone make you the most successful niche recruiter?!
1. Environmental consultant

Environmental consultancy is swiftly moving into the public sphere and cornering all aspects of the modern job market. Many prestigious companies throughout the world employ a team of environmental consultants to work on many different projects as diverse as ecological conservation to offices adopting paperless working conditions.

This is the perfect career for those with strong environmental ethics. Skills recruitment consultants should look for include ambition and drive as well as self-motivation and commitment.

2. Network administrator

Computer systems are the backbone of every single modern business. Whether it’s a large corporation that employs hundreds of thousands of people or a small and dedicated team of individuals serving a single purpose, a network administrator provides the most pivotal role inside the company. This is a role suited to those with an IT background and is perfect for those who are able to troubleshoot, monitor and help realise new trends in technology.

3. Senior analyst

A strong business needs brilliant analysts who are able to work with large volumes of data on a daily basis. Working to maintain a dynamic flow of business as well as staying ahead of competitors is also needed in this career.

An analyst’s job is never dull. They report directly to the top and are often responsible for every shift and change that a company may take when venturing into new territory or continuing to uphold gold standards of operation. The analyst’s career prospects are also extremely high and naturally rates of pay are highly competitive.

4. Investment advisor

With a great deal of responsibility, an investment advisor, particularly investment advisors that specialise in EIS (Enterprise Investment Schemes), are a key player in the operation of a business and one of the most highly sought after candidates. Constantly on hand to analyse complex financial information, give detailed reports on spending and offer valuable advice on any financial action the company wishes to take, this is a job position which comes with plenty of responsibility and plenty of perks.

5. Project manager

Those with strong leadership skills are perfect for a role as project manager. Often working in the field on dedicated and exciting tasks, this role is highly sought after amongst individuals from all backgrounds and offers a decent salary along with a strong career profile.
