Much is said about the way recruitment agencies fail to respond to emailed candidate applications. When I sent this week’s newsletter I got this autoresponse back:
thanks…
for sending us your CV
now…
we’re going to register your interest for this job on our database
next…
the coba RDBMS team are going to read your CV and give you a call
then…
check out www.coba-it.com where all our latest jobs are posted first
please…
don’t worry if it takes a little while to get through to you – we get loads of CVs every day and it can take a bit of time to get to yours
why not…
give us a call if you think we’re taking too long – we’ll be pleased to hear from you.
speak to you soon…
Now, as it happens I hadn’t sent my CV over… but I like their style.

Hi Louise,
Long time reader, first time commenter.
I think it is vitally important to get back to each candidate. Even if it is an auto-signature saying thanks but no thanks.
Recruitment is a small world and then candidate you ignore today will be the hiring manager tomorrow and may remember the experience.
Hi Louise
Coba IT have got it right with regard to keeping applicants informed. There is so much “traffic” for an applicant to keep a track off in a jobsearch especially applying through sometimes brandless/generic jobsite adverts so its good to see someone doing this – we have a few clients who use Talent on View to record themselves telling a candidate what the next stages of the process are and what to expect – great to keep candidates in the loop with a “humanised” email back to them – its working a treat in keeping candidate control and commitment levels high.
best regards
Lisa
As a jobseeker I would like to know how to filter recruiters who will look at placement of candidates if candidate is applying from outside EEU and meets the eligibility requirement by having an occupation listed on the National Shortage List
Hi Louise
That’s one of the nicest emails I have seen to inform applicants.
We have a number of clients that are still trying to “get themselves organised” with the online recruitment systems; although we now have these sophisticated systems, it still seams to be a manpower / resource issue.
Hopefully with more organisations trying to improve their employer brand & image, things will inevitably change and companies will get themselves organised.
Lis
PS – What still amazes me are the small number of applicants who take offence at being “turned down”….at least we told them!
