We allow anonymous posting on the forum. As a result I sometimes need to step in to check forum users don’t have hidden agendas and to remind people to keep it civil. I had reason to check the identity of one particular user earlier today, “Charles”, regarding this post about recruitment software. I also temporarily removed his blog posts.
This is what I asked:

In answer to your question I am engaged as an non-exec/independent consultant by several firms, hence my extensive knowledge about IT systems. I recall meeting you when I attended your IT speed pitching event.
But that is not the issue is it. Presumably you have decided to censor your members views to only contain those you personally agree with. How very sad.
And ultimately a path that will drive people away from your site. I have links with several high profile entrepreneurs in the recruitment space (inc JC) so if it is your intention to wind me up then so be it.
Are you perhaps on the payroll of IT vendors like Eboss (whose comments about I see you deleted earlier in the week, yet leaving all the comments about the other providers… very interesting….) Presumably you are receiving their marketing cash in return for censorsing the free speech on your public forum – how very unprofessional. And public too.
For reference after your first censorship edit I decided to copy the post, and again copied your most recent edit today, showing the ‘before’ and ‘after’ censorship.
I will give you the benefit of the doubt that you have acted without thinking. I will check your site on Monday. If my posts remain censored and removed (for no good reason other than you being biased because of vendor complaints because their system wasn’t the one being recommended) then don’t be suprised if your actions become wider published.
People trust Ukrecruiter because they can freely express their opinion and experiences. But once they discover that the views they express in fact have to align closely with yours I don’t think they’ll be trusting you or your website again.

But only if you agree with the Editor’s views and advertisers.
In my view censorship stinks. If you can’t be impartial then you should shut down the site.

I could get wound up or worried by this but after 10 years I think “deep breaths everyone”!
This guy (if it is a guy) is a Grade “A” tosser. What kind of idiot would make none-too-veiled threats by invoking his connection to James Caan, from the safety of anonymity. I wonder what the great JC would think of that? (edit: maybe he means Jesus Christ)
If he thinks censorship stinks, I’d like to know his opinion on anonymous and unaccountable trolls.
I do think it’s funny that we can now point and laugh at him though, so for that I suppose I have to say thank you.
