There is no substitute for great BD calls but as a back up there are so many ways you can be creative to get yourselves and your brand in front of clients and candidates. Here are just a few.
1. Drop ins
When you are visiting existing clients, take the time to see who else is around in the area. A quick drop in visit with a well thought out targeted campaign for new clients you want to impress can go a long way to helping you get new people signed up.
People assimilate information in many different ways. Another way to present information you want to send to clients is to create videos. These can be created quite easily with basic video editing software, it just takes practice. Take time to understand how people like to receive information and then produce material accordingly. Websites provide a lot of information on whether a person is more visual, logical, auditory etc, then you can decide how to approach your, well, approach!
3. Great presence on social media
By showcasing your knowledge of the sector you work in and circulating in the same groups and platforms as your clients you are already getting your name and brand in front of them even before you make any direct approaches. You absolutely have to make sure you are posting relevant content though, otherwise it will have an adverse effect.
4. Attending events
Apart from winning awards (but let’s face it that’s a long-shot strategy), attending award ceremonies and other events that your clients attend and introducing yourself in a non salesy way, just being yourself and getting to know people in a social environment often helps to open up doors.
5. Providing a great candidate support system and unique candidate attraction strategy
By showing that you really care about your candidates and provide a great service to them, when you are talking to clients about what you do, you are showing that you go the extra mile for the people you work with and therefore that you will go the extra mile for them. By utilising some of the techniques mentioned in this section you can really up your game in candidate attraction therefore having the best candidates to send over to your clients.
6. Unique mailers
Mailers are nothing new, but fun, bright, well branded and worded mailers are not perhaps seen by clients too often. Personalised messages relevant to the recipient should be used to best effect. You don’t need to stick to stuffy, corporate mailers, it’s just dull. Inject some personality into your materials, after all you are dealing with people, and if you don’t speak to clients once they are on board in that tone, then why would you when you are trying to win their business? Think about your company’s tone of voice.
7. Augmented reality
There is some great technology out there and augmented reality is up there with the best of them. Once you get your head around what you can do the sky is the limit. Research it online and use your imagination.
8. Pinterest boards
As mentioned earlier, people assimilate information in many different ways. You can present information in a visual way to clients so they are not receiving the same old information time after time.
9. Great branding
You really need to stand out in this competitive market. Your brand needs to reflect your values and should be consistent in its messages.
10. Talk about your company values
Instead of focussing on what you do, focus on why you do it. It’s a far more interesting read and will help client’s understand why they should be using your services.
