Not our usual sort of blog post (it’s a guest blog provided by Dale Richardson) but I quite like the idea of a business winning their own van. I was also rather impressed by the many different ways said van was photographed for the gallery!
Following the success of Motors’ Most Deserving Local Hero and Most Deserving Student competitions, Motors.co.uk has now launched their search for the UK’s Most Deserving Business. As the recession stretches on, businesses have got it tough – particularly new startups.
Motors.co.uk spokesperson Stephen Jury said: “We understand that there are many passionate and dedicated business owners who would benefit greatly from a new van and some funding to help get the business off of the ground. We want to celebrate our nation’s achievements, and running businesses is particularly challenging right now in the midst of an economic downfall and motoring costs are at an all-time high. By offering this chance to win an award, we hope we can give a business the chance to strive.”
The impressive prize is worth over £10,000 in cash, and includes a 2.2TDCi 260 Ford Transit van along with a year’s MOT and road fund licence, a full tank of field and insurance contributions. Not only that, but Motors.co.uk is also offering a contribution towards kitting out the van with internal racking and ply-lining ready for its new job, and brand imagery applied to the van. Alongside this, the winning business will be awarded an encouraging growth prize of £3,000 cash to help their business continue to thrive and grow.
Recruiters have a wide knowledge of the world of business, and as such can testify as to the difficulty of setting up a new business. Some sectors are more difficult than others, as demand in the market fluctuates, and recruiters are uniquely placed to chart these changes – and therefore know which sector is currently struggling the most. A wide range of businesses have been nominated for the prize – from the traditional, like a home-made preserve business or a removals company, to the quirky, including a cat emporium and a mobile science classroom. The nominated businesses needed to be less than two years old, and to show the kind of entrepreneurial spirit that would impress business experts and customers alike.
