As part of our commitment to our 600 Interesting and Useful Things for Recruiters series… Alex and I have spent our own lunch hours (and most of an afternoon) checking out these sites.
1. http://www.damnyouautocorrect.com/ – Do not visit this website in an open plan office as many of these (mostly) iphone fails are laugh out loud funny.
2. http://www.thedailymash.co.uk/ – British satire site offering funny stories on news, politics, sport and more
3. http://failblog.cheezburger.com/failbook – Apparently what stupid people post on Facebook. (also go to http://failblog.cheezburger.com/ for the main site with lots more content)
4. http://www.thepoke.co.uk/ – apparently the biggest humour site in the UK. It’s a mix of video, fake news stories and simple one liners.
5. http://www.buzzfeed.com/?country=uk – user generated content in the form of lists (such as 9 Celebrity Facts That Might Explode Your Brain).
6. http://jimllpaintit.tumblr.com/ – just plain freaky. You suggest it and Jim “paints” it using Microsoft Paint. Pretty amazing and weird stuff.
7. http://www.theonion.com/ – The Onion is a satirical award winning weekly publication from the US
8. http://www.happyplace.com – a mix of “news”, tweets, video and other user generated content. Very random.
9. http://badkidsjokes.tumblr.com/ – Kids jokes gone wrong published by a chap who moderates jokes on a Kids Jokes website. Much like all kids jokes some are not at all funny!
10. http://www.sporcle.com/ – This is Alex’s (our newsletter Editor’s) favourite site and is almost educational; with thousands of free online trivia quizzes.
