When I was asked if I’d take a look at The Mobile Contractor app I thought it’d probably be a few tools to manage your contracting lifestyle. However it’s much more than that. The app was designed by contractors themselves and is more a job board with some great add-ons for contractors.
By creating such a useful set of tools they have built an app which contractors will happily utilise; as a result building a solid database of contract workers.
But onto the app. The key features are the job search, calculator, rate checker, shift calendar news and blogs and offers.
I thought the calculator was great (maybe contractors use these things all the time though!). You enter your hourly or day rate and your expenses and it works out your annual salary, tax due and NI contribution!
The app has lots of up to date news and currently 160 job listings covering all sectors including IT and telecoms, oil and gas, finance, healthcare, construction and more.
It’s a free app and well worth checking out if you’re a freelance or contract worker. If you’re a recruiter with jobs to post you can do it via idibu or Broadbean and even better; there’s a one month free trial available via the website.
