We run our Directors Only events with RIDA Group (an independently owned investment house that specialises in the recruitment and staffing sector) and they’ve recently started running a three day course for recruiters in conjunction with the IOR. It is specifically for start up owners, covering two days of business set up and recruitment led advice, finishing with a legislation course, ensuring that you have a firm understanding of the requirements, acts & legislation required to support you in your first year of trading.
Here are a few interesting start up facts I thought I’d take the opportunity of sharing!
– In 2012 424,161 start-ups were formed in the UK
– 2011 saw a total of 1,465 employment agencies launch, while 615 temporary employment agencies opened their doors for business (via Recruiter magazine). Strangely the same article suggests exactly the same number of agencies folded (1,465).
– 70% of online start-up businesses are home based (via Start Up Britain)
– According to Bloomberg, 8 out of 10 entrepreneurs who start businesses fail within the first 18 months.
So, don’t let your business be one of those which fail – understand the responsibilities as a business owner and director, of running a recruitment business and ensure you understand the responsibilities of the legal, ethical, commercial, financial and operational side of the business. Check out the course here.
