Microdec’s Top Technology Tips; When it comes to choosing technology we advise that you:
• Set a realistic budget
• Create a Business Requirement List of 5 – 10 activities or features that you want. This will aid your initial research and ultimately your end selection
• Research suppliers thoroughly and then short list no more than five systems for a demo. By short listing to five it allows you to really assess if those systems are right for you and that the supplier will be able to fully support your business. Do not rely solely on referrals as every business is different so a supplier that works for one recruiter may not work for you
• When is comes to the demos. Firstly, allocate an hour for each demo, this will allow you to really see all the system and it’s functionality. Secondly, take your Business Requirement List so that you can measure the functionality against your needs. Thirdly, take lots of notes so that when it comes to comparing systems you are in a better position to do so. Finally, ask lots of questions to make sure you really get to know the product and if it is right for your business
• Get a quote for any data migration as that can put costs up and be wary of systems that don’t offer data migration as they may not have the level of support that your business needs.
