Today we ran another great #Rechangout with the unwieldy title of How to create and implement a rewarding and innovative social recruiting strategy? We were joined by Andy Headworth and Steve Ward as well as last minute guest John Heffernan. Our host, Alan Whitford, did a sterling job of keeping the conversation on track whilst Mark Stephens (Technology in Recruitment Alliance and founder of the F10 Group) and Louis Welcomme (Colleague Software) also chipped in. As usual I looked like I did nothing whilst behind the scenes I was busily scribbling notes and trying to keep up with the Twitter activity.
We crammed a lot into the hour and you can watch the hangout here:
At the start of the hangout Andy shared the 8 steps (taken from his fabulous new book) in creating a social media recruitment strategy framework. There is a snazzy graphic to go with it but to get that you’ll have to buy the book or wait until he blogs about it. These are the 8 steps:
1. Set your objectives
2. Define your audience
3. Choose your platforms
4. Select your people
5. Provide training
6. Decide your content strategy
7. Measurement
8. Monitoring
He does talk about each of these in more detail during the hangout.
Here are a few blogs which I think nicely support the hangout:
How To Set Measurable Goals for Your Social Media Marketing
Your Target Talent Is No Longer All On LinkedIn
How To Create Candidate Personas To Recruit Talent
Why you Should Ignore a Candidate’s Klout Score (this one is nearly two years old but probably still as relevant today)
Here are the summary thoughts from our guests:
Steve – know who you are targeting and be creative about approaching them. Sometimes words are not enough; consider multimedia options. The quality of content and the purpose behind it is hugely important.
Andy – Make sure your content is targeted, interesting and relevant AND listen to the responses. Don’t be afraid of engaging with people.
Our next hangout will be in June and you can get updates here
