Will Recfluence be the recruitment industry’s TripAdvisor?

recfluenceNew site Recfluence plans to transform the way recruitment industry works in the same way TripAdvisor revolutionised the hotel trade.   I would love it if this new site was the ” DEATH KNELL FOR AGENCIES PROVIDING POOR SERVICE” as their press release tells me.

There are lots of reasons why one might be wary of a site where jobseekers can leave feedback on recruiters.  Often candidates do get a poor level of service and there’s no reason why other jobseekers shouldn’t be warned of this.  However, equally often the jobseeker has been the guilty party in the process; sending in CVs to every single job an agency advertises, not being honest about experience or salary or other circumstances which leads to them being discounted for a role and sometimes they just won’t agree that they weren’t the best candidate for a job.  Those candidates will leave negative emotive feedback rather than objective feedback.  Hey, it’s the same for TripAdvisor though isn’t it?!

So I say go for it.  Overall the great agencies will shine through and the slightly odd candidate’s and their ranting feedback will be ignored.    The site is slick and easy on the eye and the process for leaving feedback appears straightforward.

If I were to be negative (and I feel really bad writing this as the guys behind the seem really nice) I’d wonder why this model has never really taken off before. I wrote about CompareMyRecruiter in 2012 and about Recruitment Reviews and HireScores back in 2009 (all long gone in their previous forms).  TalentPuzzle and CompareRecruit are two competitors to Recfluence but neither really hit the TripAdvisor awareness level.  There is a lot of work to be done by the team at Recfluence if they are to crack this hard to thrive in market.

PS, Whilst the Recfluence site is live they are not yet letting recruitment agencies see any feedback that may have been left for them.

Hi @@stephenodonn:disqus you raised a good point! Our vision is that as the community grows, it will become more powerful and can have direct affect on agencies (increased / reduced candidate engagement levels?). If we use TripAdvisor as an example, there are opposing reviews in each hotel, but now hotels are in a position where they need to ensure positive reviews outweigh negatives. This could translate to agencies ensuring that positive candidate experience is an key KPI for recruiters?
