This week on our new Recruiter Clinic on Blab (it’s a live video chat channel) the topic was how to engage with passive candidates and we shared quite a few thoughts around the topic. I was joined by Stephen O’Donnell (who is my regular team-mate on the shows) and John Rose was our guest. You can watch a recording of the show here:
Here are some of the links to things that were mentioned on the show or in the chat window during it:
What’s Wrong with Active Candidates?
Newsflash! There is no such thing as a ‘passive candidate’
What’s the ONE secret to successful recruiting?
What are Active & Passive Candidates?
Recruiting Active vs. Passive Candidates
This is my summary of what was shared:
Active candidate is someone who is looking for a job and a Passive one isn’t. That’s it.
Are passive candidates better than active ones? They might not be better but there are more of them! Up to 30% of “candidates” are active which leaves 70% untapped.
Is everyone convertible from passive to active? (essentially yes)
How to locate them
Making first contact (email, phone, text and at an event)
How to flipping them from passive to active
Keeping them in process
Being able to sell the job
We should be back in a fortnight with another Recruiter Clinic and if you want to take part in one just let me know.
