I kid you not.
Yesterday I was chatting with someone who knows a thing of two about recruitment; he’s possibly the definition of Marmite and is certainly the biggest celeb in recruitment. Anyway, I digress, I was chatting with James Caan about his new project when he mentioned Tony Byrne. James has a good 10 years recruitment experience on me but I was also around at the height of Tony’s fame. He was well known for his red braces and outgoing personality (looking back you’d say he passed for a used-car-salesman) and has been described by many as the greatest recruitment trainer that ever lived. One of his best known DVDs (video back then of course) was the 30 Steps in the Placement Process.
I honestly believe that our industry does suffer due to a lack of investment in training of recruiters and as I work with James in helping him promote his project (for love not money sadly) I’ll no doubt start banging that drum even more.
