Glassdoor has just released their inaugural Informed Candidate Survey revealing the top challenges for employers hiring today, the top traits hiring decision makers want from today’s candidates, along with what the long-term impacts are of hiring the right talent. We also have data on what influences people to join a company and data on how employers are thinking about diversity and inclusion hiring.
Survey data is according to 750 recruiters at companies of all sizes across the US and UK and survey highlights include the following:
What’s the problem?
3 in 4 (76%) hiring decision makers say attracting quality candidates is #1 challenge
So what do companies want?
9 in 10 (88%) say an informed candidate is a quality candidate
But what does that mean? Top 3 traits wanted:
Hiring decision makers say top attributes of a candidate include:
#1: Prepared for interview and asks pertinent questions
#2: Demonstrates the right experience
#3: Knowledgeable about the job role
When the right talent is found, then what?
Hiring decision makers say top benefits of hiring an informed candidate include:
#1: Better employee retention
#2: More productive employee
#3: More engaged employee
Survey data reveals that recruiting strategies of the past are no longer enough to attract today’s candidates who are more informed than ever before thanks to transparency and more information available online than ever before. Recruiting has become more of a 2-way street as candidates are just as likely to source an employer, just as employers have traditionally sourced candidates.
