Einstein had it right when he said that insanity is repeating the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. Here, Vince McLaughlin from our partners Globus.ai (harnesses AI to put human interactions first and allows you to fill shifts faster than humanly possible) shares his thoughts on the insanity for shift management and recruitment performance.
Recruitment is repetitive at the best of times, but shift management can be a real treadmill.
It’s unsurprising that delivering an increasing stream of shift workers might sometimes feel like a gradual descent into madness.
A large portion of workers will seek the same shift patterns to accommodate their lifestyles. Whether that’s because of family, travel, commitments, or a preferential work schedule.
Here’s the rub…
Recruiters continue to go through the rigmarole of checking availability, confirming interest, assigning, and placing the same candidates into the same shifts on each cycle.
A recruiter’s resource is finite, so every additional shift worker added to their books means a thinner runway to increase NFI with net new activity.
Essentially, more shift workers mean more admin. You hit what we call the performance plateau. It’s a stressful place between rising KPIs and an unmanageable workload.
As much as 58% of recruiting time is spent on low-value or repetitive tasks like checking availability, trawling emails and texts, waiting on responses, confirming matches, and registering interest.
The more shift workers you manage the more checkpoints you need to run through with everyone.
Breaking the cycle of low-value repetition to make sustainable gains.
Shift management has been long overdue for an automated intervention.
For us, automation can’t be a trade-off for relationships and human responses. It needs to be a smarter way to maximise human engagement and improve human intention.
We found that too much attention falls into the necessary, but clunky checkpoints of shift management, and designed Globus to leverage artificial intelligence as a means to:
- Surface all the shift openings from your inbox, text, and VMS in a single pane of glass
- Translate the chorus of company jargon into a single uniform format
- Match who’s actually available ahead of shift openings
- Advance who’s competent, compliant, and historically interested
- Tailor responses to arrive rapidly for every party in the recruitment journey
It allows recruiters to start the conversation with the right candidates several steps in front of the early and repetitive stages of shift management.
We talk about doing what’s beyond humanly possible at Globus.
The current wait and respond recruitment cycle relies on the fastest finger responding to the open shifts their eye catches. It’s not sustainable when you want to scale.
Instead of having several checkpoints with each candidate before you’re at a stage to place them, we rely on personal automation and a single gateway to accelerate the early stages.
The fastest finger is the one that doesn’t need to click. We’ve simply moved the starting line forward for recruiters, shift workers, and shift managers.
Could an automated intervention accelerate the early stages of shift management for your team and push them past the performance plateau?
