LockedOut on LinkedIn

You have to admire the speed at which LinkedIn are tracking relevant activity related to their business. I see today that they have shut down Shane McCusker’s LinkedIn account after he posted a video on YouTube about a new tool he’d developed.

Shane is well known for his useful webinars on social media and recruitment.

His latest video shows how, using his new toolbar add-on, you can get the full names and profiles of people who are beyond your network reach on LinkedIn.

Right now I understand Shane is hoping to get things straightened out with LinkedIn before he makes this free tool available.

So, what do you think? Bit harsh? Quite understandable?

Hi everyone. I’m delighted to report that my LinkedIn account is active once more. According to the email I received from LinkedIn they apologised to me and said that it was ‘restricted in error’. I suspect that there was more to it than this but for now I’m just happy to have my account back working.

I hope to speak to the people at LinkedIn to get a better understanding of what happened here. I can certainly see how restricting my account may well have been a reaction to my YouTube video although this was absolutely never my intention and in fact I believe that this work in the context of everything else I do for LinkedIn is very much to their benefit.

    Shane
