Nominations closed on 30th November for the “Recruitment Blog of the Year” awards. We had 149 nominations and once we took out duplications and made sure everyone met the criteria for nomination we are down to 23 finalists.
The nomination criteria was:
i) the blogger has to be an active recruiter (ie, has worked on a recruitment campaign within the last 6 weeks).
ii) the blogger has to have posted something on their blog in the past month.
iii) The blog has been around for at least six months.
Our 23 finalists are a mix of inhouse and agency recrutiers, one man bands, bloggers writing for their organisation and bloggers writing for the sake of their own sanity!
The judging panel consists of myself, Andy Headworth, Peter Gold and Mervyn Dinnen and some of the judging criteria includes quality of writing, blog design, volume of posts, type of content and “sociability” of the blog.
There are two awards this year, sponsored by Jobsite. They are Recruitment Blog of the Year 2012 AND Best Personal Recruitment Blog of the Year 2012 (to recognise individual recruiters). We plan to publish details of the winning blogs by mid December.
As soon as this post is published I’m hiding myself away until I’ve had a thorough look at all those 23 finalists’ blogs!!

Obviously a self-interested idea Louise, but I wonder if there would be scope to have another competition for recruitment blogs that are not run by agencies or hr people i.e. technologists, suppliers, community organisers, consultants, ‘experts’ etc.
