From the Editor
Recruitment is full of long‑standing rules, from always requesting a CV to prioritising speed, guarding salary details and measuring success by time‑to‑hire. Many of these practices once made sense, but the world of work, candidate expectations and recruiter technology have changed. It’s time the rules changed too.
Throughout September, our new blog series The Recruitment Rule I’d Break will spotlight the industry norms worth challenging. We’ve asked partners and friends across the sector to choose one widely accepted practice they believe no longer serves recruiters or candidates and, crucially, to propose what should replace it.
Each article will offer clear, experience‑driven insight into a rule that’s outdated, why it fails today and the smarter alternative that delivers better outcomes.
We hope this series sparks conversations, challenges entrenched thinking and encourages you to rethink the rules shaping your own recruitment decisions.
Let the rule‑breaking begin!
