This month’s google+ hangout was talking about “What Do The Best Recruiters Do Better? ” and it was one a really interesting hangout to listen to. Our guests were
* Tony Seager – Director at Seal Recruitment Training Solutions
* Steven Yendell – Managing Director at Phaidon International
* Ben Charlton – Account Director at First Point
Our host this month was Alan Whitford (RCEuro/Abtech Partnership), and Louis Welcomme (Colleague Software) kept on top of the technology whilst also sharing some of his thoughts.
It was a really interesting debate with everyone sharing insight. You can watch the hangout here:
There was such a lot discussed but here are some blogs you may find useful alongside the hangout:
- Tony didn’t get through all eight of these but you can read the 8 key traits of the world’s most enduring and successful recruitment businesses here
- How to Recruit Superstars – 9 Killer Questions from Roy Ripper (lots of the content on Roy’s blog is excellent and worth a proper read)
- Have You Got the Top 10 Traits That Make a Top Billing Recruiter? This is very much an overview article but covers lots of the points discussed in the hangout
- Attitude versus Aptitude…What It Takes to be a Great Recruiter – why you should hire for attitude (hunger specifically) not skills
- This article is from 2011 but still so relevant – What It Takes To Be A Big Biller as is this: Top Habits of Successful Recruiters
- Kevin Wheeler is a globally known author on recruitment and this blog looks at 4 Traits That Separate A Great Recruiter From A Good One
- Why don’t we yet know this??? Why great recruiters make dud managers – great article by Greg Savage
The main takeaways our guests wanted viewers to go away thinking about were:
Ben – Don’t leave things to chance. Focus on everything including the little things; this will increase your ratios/metrics and make you a better recruiter
Steve – Be very deliberate in everything you do. Understand the value of the client/candidate and work to it. Don’t just tick boxes; seek competitive advantage in every aspect of your business.
Tony – Set goals and build a plan – consider where you are now where you want to get and how you’ll achieve it.
Our next hangout will be on 16th September and details will be here soon.
