Online Recruitment 2007 Conference

Earlier this week I caught up with Tim Elkington at Enhance Media to find out about their conference at the end of January.  It’s called “Online recruitment 2007 – The year ahead“.  I’m planning to go along so wanted to find out a little more.

Louise: So Tim, what’s the conference all about?

Tim: As the name suggests, it’s about all the key developments within the online recruitment space in the next year. It’s the latest in a series of conferences that we’ve run looking at future trends, these started with ‘Online Recruitment – the next ten years’ in 2004 and every year since we’ve tried to provide those interested with a forum where they can hear about and discuss the latest ideas and developments in online recruitment. This year’s conference is the biggest yet with nine speakers – including three that are coming from the States especially for the event.

Louise: So what kind of issues will you be focusing on?

Tim: The growth of broadband and web 2.0 means the internet is changing quickly. Recruiters will be using blogs, podcasts and online videos in the next couple of years and job boards are evolving rapidly. Any recruiter that wants to stay ahead of the game is going to have to focus on and understand these issues if they are to take advantage of them. We’ll also be looking at search engine optimisation and how that’s changing in the face of web 2.0 and providing a case study from a Resourcing Manager at a multi-national plc that has implemented an e-recruitment solution.

Louise: You mentioned speakers coming from the US…

Tim: Yes, we’ve got three great speakers for the States.  Gautam Godhwani, the co-founder and CEO of simplyhired.com who will look at performance based online recruitment advertising, Peter Altieri from RecruiTV who specialises in online recruitment videos and Jason Gorham from CareerMetaSearch.com who has developed ‘push posting’ that enables recruiters to effectively target passive job seekers.

Louise: And will this year’s NORAS results feature?

Tim : Yes, the NORAS 2007 results are released the day before the conference, so it’ll be a good opportunity to hear about the results from the horse’s mouth as it were! We’ve also got some new information about the technology (3G phones, blackberrys etc) that job seekers are using so the findings should be really interesting.

Louise:  And finally, who do you think the conference will be most beneficial for?

Tim: The conference will be great for anyone in the online recruitment industry, but will be especially valuable for HR and recruitment consultancy professionals as it will give them a huge amount to think about in terms of attracting and communicating with candidates online. It will give them the chance to hear about the latest ideas and how they can apply them to their business to attract the right candidates.

If you want to join me at the conference it’s on January 30th in Central London.  It’s £299 per delegate and you can book online at www.enhancemedia.co.uk or call Tim (or one of his team) on 020 7731 9640.  Anyone interested should move quickly as Tim tells me they are expecting to sell out the 120 capacity in the next couple of weeks.
