What are you lot like?

If you’re one of the over 1,500 people who tried the Superhero widgetwe posted in the blog last week then thank you. Not only were you having a bit of fun and receiving some insight to your own personal style, but you gave me a glimpse into the psychological make-up of the UK Recruiter audience.

The results were a real eye-opener. Take a look at just some of the key personality traits of the psychological map quadrants we used for ranking and see which one you think you fit into:

quadrantsNW – They are very cautious about most things. Their motivation is to be correct and to achieve this they analyse everything they can to the nth degree. They will not be impressed by enthusiasm; in fact they treat it as suspect. They want facts and nothing but the facts, and they want to know where and how they can corroborate them.

NE – “What does it cost and what do I get?” will be the main question they want answered. People from the North East are generally risk takers and will not be too focused on security or safety. They are realists who take a pragmatic view of life. They enjoy some excitement; however they will never throw caution completely to the wind, as their common sense often overrides any impulses they may have.

SE- Those from the South East like style and glamour. If a proposition were presented in a dull boring fashion they wouldn’t even glance at it. They are motivated by enthusiasm, their own and that of others. Those from the SE want the latest thing and they want it now. Paint pictures, create excitement and exaggerate. Life is all about possibilities for them and the more improbable the better they like them.

SW – Someone who resides in the South West of the map will be warm and friendly. However, they are a little suspicious of enthusiasm. They care more for tried and tested people who have a warm, caring approach. Something new is not going to be that important to them, they’d probably much prefer something old. The thing that motivates them most is their concern for the needs of those closest to them. Family and friends are all important to them.

I’ll have to take care of you gregarious and glamorous Eastern folk and make sure all the facts are checked out for the Westerly people.

It’s a great way to get a snapshot of individual preferences within a group. I know of one agency that has already used the system with its staff and they now refer to themselves by their Superhero names, so that colleagues understand a lot more about how each other think and what’s important to them.

If you’re not already doing this then try it.

Thanks to Stephen at Psychegraphics for all his help with this.
