This is a training course that should probably come with some sort of public health warning. If you know Mitch Sullivan you’ll probably be prepared. If you don’t then you could get one heck of a shock when you turn up for your How To Win Exclusive & Retained-Fee Recruitment Assignments training course.
I’ve known Mitch for 20+ years. He was an inhouse recruiter when I worked for a search firm a looooong time ago. Here’s some more info on his background.
Three things about Mitch; he cares about the state of the recruitment industry, has some pretty strong views and he knows how to p*ss people off. If you want to know more then check out his blog and follow him on Twitter. However, one of the things he cares about is how selling retained recruitment can be the best thing for all involved in the recruitment process. I think he’s totally on the button with this. Many agencies are finding that contingency doesn’t work like it used to before LinkedIn, job boards and social media. Now every agency is searching for candidates in the same places, using the same ‘skills’ and tools. Who exactly is this working well for?
So, Mitch has launched this one day training course, which seems to be the only training available on the market, that will help teach contingency recruiters how to sell retained to their same clients on the same roles. His course isn’t for everyone (you’ll be eligible for it if you’re a perm, white-collar recruiter who has gained at least 5 years agency experience and has mastered the art of contingency recruitment, specialise within a certain discipline and/or market sector and placing people in the 25K – 80K salary range) but I don’t think there is any doubt that retained business and how to get it is what Mitch knows about.
The course runs on Monday May 19th 2014 and you can book your place here. I would love for someone who goes along to write a blog post review of it so if you do book a place please let me know.
