Would you Buy Recruitment Leads?

recruitmentleadsRecruitment Leads launched last month and they’ve asked me to give them some coverage. As you might expect from the name the website is devoted to providing a lead generation service.

They monitor over 1 million company websites and 500 UK job boards finding new job openings by direct employers. They also provide decision maker details which is key to managing to get somewhere with a lead.

The obvious benefits are that recruiters;

– Have more job orders to work on
– Spend less time searching for jobs to work on
– Have more time to qualify candidates

They estimate clients save 13 working hours every week per recruitment desk.  The cost is either £89.99 a month for 50 leads a week or £159.99 a month for 100 leads a week. Leads are sent on a Monday morning by 11am and all are less than 7 days old.

So I do quite like this (there is a ‘but’ which I’ll come to later). I know that getting leads is a big deal for recruiters; especially those new to the industry. The site suggests that having their leads will give recruiters a competitive advantage but I’m not really sure that’s true. I think that building relationships in your niche is the best way to generate leads and to get a competitive advantage.  However, if you are a rookie and are measured on the number of calls you make then decent leads (with names!) are certainly going to help.

I thought one of the questions off the Q&A page was interesting:

Q Do I need to sign up as an agency?

A No, most of our members are recruitment consultants who have signed up through a personal email. Their colleagues & boss have no idea how they obtain the leads

That’s got to be telling us something. My experience is that agencies expect their recruiters to do their own business development and don’t want to pay for extras (they are paying their recruiter to find their own leads). Also, over time you tend to learn that calling companies who have already advertised vacancies has a low return and is a very soul destroying process!

However, as I say for someone starting out, for a recruiter who has fabulous conversation skills or hates the sourcing leads element of their role – could be worth investigating further.
