Job Hoppers – crap or cool?

frogBack in my day if you saw a CV of someone with four jobs in 10 years you’d brand that candidate a “job hopper” and file them in the circular filing cabinet.

These were the no-go candidates, seen as lacking staying power, being disloyal, never staying long enough for their mistakes to catch up with them  OR maybe they had just made a series of bad decisions about the companies they joined – either way you didn’t want them (lots of people, including Mark Suster, feel this way).

However, for a variety of reasons it’s becoming cool to be a job hopper.  It can show someone looking for strong personal development, quick learners, over achievers picking up a range of skills, drive, determination and fearlessness (here are a load more great reasons Why You Should Hire a Job Hopper)

I’m staying on the fence with this one – but you have to admit it’s one more challenge in assessing candidates for the modern recruiter!
