This week was the first in a series of six live broadcasts in which we are bringing recruiters, business leaders and jobseekers some really great content with our partner ZipRecruiter; who are well known for their Future of Work Report.
Each show has a unique topic but I’m delighted that each time my guests are ZipRecruiter’s Labour Economist, Julia Pollak, and Client Strategy Lead, Mary Ball.
This week we talked about three ways in which the coronavirus pandemic recession is very, very different from all those that have gone before it. The depth, breadth, and distribution of the job losses and economic disruption this time around are completely different from anything we’ve seen before. In other words, if you were to ask three questions—how big is this crisis, how many industries/businesses/counties have been affected, and exactly which ones have been most heavily affected—the answers will all look different from those in a normal recession. This information will be useful across the board as we’re reviewing trends and I think Julia and Mary did an excellent job of identifying pockets of opportunity, whether you’re a business owner, recruiter or job seeker pursuing a new career.
