A Note from the Editor
Neil Carberry OBE has announced he will step down as Chief Executive of the Recruitment & Employment Confederation (REC) this September, marking the end of a significant chapter for the organisation and the wider recruitment sector.
In a personal LinkedIn post, Neil reflected on what he described as “the privilege of my life,” highlighting the strength of the REC today – from its brand and membership to the leadership team that will guide it towards its centenary in 2030. The post has clearly struck a chord across the industry, attracting nearly 300 comments filled with congratulations, appreciation and support.
Neil will take up the role of Chief Executive at the CIPD, bringing his extensive experience to the broader people profession at a time when challenges such as AI, productivity and workforce transformation continue to dominate the agenda. While there is still work to be done in the months ahead at the REC, this transition represents both an end and a beginning – not just for Neil, but for two of the UK’s most influential professional bodies. You can read his full announcement and the reaction from across the industry via the LinkedIn post.
We’re pleased to congratulate recLAW on reaching five years of supporting the recruitment industry. Over that time, they’ve worked with agencies across the UK to resolve disputes and recover unpaid fees, becoming a steady presence in an area that’s rarely straightforward.
A milestone for Barry Cullen, Partner and Solicitor at recLAW, who has been a long‑standing friend and partner to UK Recruiter. A solid achievement and a welcome moment to acknowledge their contribution.
