There’s no such thing as a Nice Critic

I noticed that Andy Headworth had blogged about NiceCritic

“Here is a website that can help you through some of the more difficult issues when working with other colleagues……and it is also some fun!

NiceCritic is a simple and clever website that allows you to send an anonymous helpful message to someone.”

So I thought I’d take a look.  Well I don’t think I’ve laughed so much in ages.  Andy has picked six sensible examples of the type of messages you can send via the site.  However, I think they are only sensible messages.

To test the site out I thought I’d send anonymous messages to the guys I worked with at Highfield.  I started with Fliss (who helps proof this blog) and sent her a message saying her hair looks nice (I can’t see her today but she normally has nice hair).  Then I thought about what I could send to Marcus (poor Marcus was turned into an Elf on this blog two Christmas’s ago so I know he has a good sense of humour and he can take criticism).  So I thought I’d send him a message about his “office behaviour”.  But can you imagine, sitting quietly at your desk, an email pops up “Stories about your spouse are not as interesting as they used to be” or “Showcasing your collectibles may make you look a little immature.”

Then I looked the “praise” category and I worried that sending any of these would make the person receiving the email concerned they had a stalker; “I like what you are wearing today”.

So, after sending Marcus a highly inappropriate one I gave up.  I don’t think that Mike needs to know that his heavy walk can be heard from a distance or that Mics wants to know that removing her shoes is creating an unpleasant aroma in the office (which I have made up by the way)!

I personally think NiceCritic is one to avoid!
