Why Niche Sites should have Job Boards

Julian Stopps has written an interesting blog post entitled “5 reasons every niche site should have a job board“.  It’s  a really good post and totally spot on.  For years we resisted adding a job board to UK Recruiter for a variety of reasons which turned out to all be wrong (I may write about them another time). If Julian had written that blog post 18 months ago I’d have been in there like a shot.  Luckily Colin at Brainhunter is equally expert in the field which is why we finally gave in and created the UK Recruiter Jobs site (and of course we use the Brainhunter solution to run it!).

Julian’s post will no doubt will music to Colin’s ears!

  1. Thanks Louise and yes it was music to our ears.
There are many reasons why a niche site with a niche professional audience should consider implementing a range of low cost, high value services, including a job board.
The original post from Julian and subsequent comments focussed on revenue, however, niche site operators should also consider the effect on attraction and retention.
In terms of a job board, not only can it generate revenue, it can also offer the following to the operator.
    1. Additional traffic and thus registrations/traction to the host site due to enhanced search engine ranking (generated from the dynamic content of the job board) and as a result of the job board technology’s referral module, plus the general buzz it creates.
    2. Site loyalty. New features and services that provide personal value will encourage visitors to stick and return.
There are many more reasons that I am happy to discuss on a one to one along with how to bridge the gap between standard job board posting and print recruitment advertising.
