Mastering Client Meetings… without the need to showcase your undies!

juice_jun13I’ve just seen a great video from the guys at JuiceTDP about a scenario which I’m sure is painfully familiar to some rookie recruiters! In fact I’ve got a recruitment friend who was shaking hands with a client outside their offices when a guest of wind meant her client got to know her a whole lot better than she’d intended!!

The Juice video is a trailer for their “mastering client meetings” learning sessions. I’m pretty sure that no one would disagree that building relationships leads to long term success with clients and that a face to face meeting is one of the best ways to build that relationship. However, many recruiters worry about taking a few hours out of their day to meet with a prospect EVEN when it’s proven that meeting with a client is more likely to result in a placement. You are far more likely to gain exclusivity after meeting with the client, you are far more likely to successfully understand the culture after meeting with the client and you are far more likely to sell the candidate to both parties after meeting with the client (and the candidate – but that’s another story altogether!)

So, as I like to do with these video’s I’ve created a little poll asking about what percentage of your client base you’ve met face to face…

(by the way that trailer is part of the promotional series for the really great online learning package from Juice TDP)

I do not appreciate the fact that client needs to meet a recruiter, this can also lead to unfair means and client can end up influencing the recruiter for placing them. This is absolutely apt that meeting leads to know each other beter, but in case of client and recruiter it should be done in more transparent manner.
