I’ve just come across this great site which calls itself “the web’s #1 free resource” for assessment day & psychometric test success. And to be honest I can quite image that this is true. It’s a incredibly comprehensive site aimed at jobseekers to help them prepare for assessment days, psychometric tests, interviews and presentations. Even better most of the information is free.
The chap behind it, Mike Kennedy, has spent 15 years working for some of the biggest corporate employers in the UK and he has spent an incredible amount of time pulling together this great site.
If you have a client who is going to use psychometrics or run assessment centres then I’d recommend you point your candidates to this site to get them fully prepared. I’ll certainly be using it myself for the psychometric projects I work on.
PS, this isn’t a paid advert for the site – I do just really like it!

I agree that most assessment tests can and must be prepared for. However, the terminology used often confuses psychometric testing with Personality Profiling (which is one of the elements within psychometrics). As Mike explains here, it’s not really possible to study for a personality profile assessment. http://www.assessmentcentrehq.com/psychometric-tests/personality-questionnaires/
The best recommendation for Personality Profile assessments, is to get into character, do whatever is takes to be in a positive frame of mind, and be yourself. Attempting to “game” the assessment could result in not getting the job at all, or getting it whilst not being a suitable match.
