With no set rules for a worthy Twitter presence, it can be tricky to determine an approach which reflects well on your recruitment agency. A unique voice is key, round-the-clock tweeting is essential and some well-placed humour will rarely go amiss. But really, the best way to master Twitter? Find inspiration from those already doing it.
So without further delay, all hail my top 10 recruitment agencies who do Twitter right:
1. iMultiply Resourcing (@iMultiplyTweet)
iMultiply manage to find the balance between tweeting a good variety of content and job opportunities. Twitter is all about starting discussions, and they raise subjects like mobility and diversity in the workplace to avoid the recruitment agency cliché of turning Twitter into a glorified job board. And telling us that, “…April saw a 14% rise in new job opportunities compared to the same month in 2012” is definitely good for morale!
2. GCS Recruitment (@GCSRecruitment)
A recruitment agency with an individual approach, GCS are definitely up there (and out there!) in terms their Twitter style. Their well-targeted humour puts a welcome human face on their business and makes them more relatable than many of their competitors. One of my favourites – “Déjà Brew: Drinking a cup of tea when it feels like you only just drank a cup of tea” Think it’s possible I’m déjà brewing right now….
3. Redmill Resourcing (@redmillr)
Redmill’s Twitter page is on the way up. As well as being updated regularly (which is half of the key to success on Twitter), it’s warm and allows you an insight into their office and the working day of their staff. They create a genuine rapport with both their clients and potential candidates, which means their Twitter page is likely to continue growing.
4. 4 Social Work (@4SocialWork)
4 Social Work keeps Twitter simple by categorising their tweets. At a glance, you have JOBS, INSIGHT, NEWS and OPINIONS. The caps might seem like too much, but they’re likely to attract the attention of clients and candidates scrolling through a busy Twitter feed. Effectively, they’ve nailed two vital aspects of Twitter: variety and attention-grabbing headlines.
5. Handle Recruitment (@HandleRecruit)
This agency takes a slightly different approach to advertising job opportunities on Twitter. Different in that, generally, they don’t. Instead, Twitter is where they post the latest media and entertainment news for those interested in a career in this field. News, conversations, reviews, sales, profits and employment questions all have a place here, but without the job opportunites. Unusual, but there is something refreshing about keeping Twitter for news and chat, trusting candidates to find their way back to jobs (which they publish on a separate account).
6. Denholm Associates (@denholm_tweets)
Denholm’s Twitter offers advice on everything from cover letters to the challenges and opportunities that come from sales and marketing jobs. You will also find their examples of good and bad marketing tweeted regularly – whether or not you agree, there’s no denying it’s food for thought!
7. Office Angels (@OfficeAngelsUK)
The Office Angels Twitter page is a well-oiled machine. They make fantastic use of the mighty hash-tag, which is crucial for generating relevant discussions, trends and search results. Get into a hash-tag groove and watch as the traffic on your Twitter page increases – guaranteed.
8. Graduate Jobs (@UKGrads)
This recruitment agency’s bio reads, “AMAZING at finding graduates #jobs, pretty good at interview prep, ok at staying awake during films, bad at thumb wars.” In other words, they do their job well and have a bit of fun doing it. Recently, they targeted the latest batch of graduates by offering them a shout out – tweet them your degree info and what job want, and they retweeted them to their 22,000+ followers. This fresh idea had a massive response and is still ongoing!
9. Impact Recruitment (@Impact_Recruit)
This creative recruitment agency keeps their Twitter page jam-packed with advice, discussions and bite sized reading. You will find light and useful blog posts, as well as some fun ones like “Weird and Wonderful Interview Questions” which just about everyone can relate to!
10. Michael Page (@MichaelPageUK)
Michael Page provide both candidates and employers with solid advice on their Twitter page. They are another agency who keep their job posts largely to their website, keeping their Twitter page free for debates, trends and general career advice.

So there we have it, 10 different methods to the madness. The world of Twitter awaits!
