How to Create Your Own Twitter Follower Frenzy

Louise_TwitterAt our recent In House Recruitment Summit Dave Hazlehurst mentioned and recommended Follower Frenzy.  It’s a tool to help “build your Twitter presence”.  I never normally give these things a go but thought I’d try it out.

It’s so simple, you just register (for free) and pop in a few keywords and literally watch your new followers come on-board.  I got tons.  However, what I’d not realised (the small print is VERY VERY small) is how many posts the tool would be favouriting on my behalf in order to achieve this. In one day “I” had favourited about 400 tweets.

Just like Dan Moen in his recent blog about the product there are three things I don’t like

It is definitely spammy
A robot is favouriting things for you, could hurt your reputation
Some false positives to wade through

So I unsubscribed.  However, I’ve set up a little search that I’m running each day to gain a few more followers: followerFrenzy
It certainly is more time consuming to go through and individually liking the posts of relevant people but it does the same job in terms of increasing your followers.  If you are serious about increasing your Twitter following, check out Greg Savage’s blog on How I got to 30,000 Twitter Followers – he shares a much broader range of suggestions.
