As part of our Recruiting Weekly series we have 6 tips from Celsius Graduate Recruitment for attracting better candidates.
In the constantly renewing world of recruitment there are some stalwart basics to keep on top as well as some new ways of working.
Make Your Requirements Clear
Firstly make your job descriptions clear. So giving a real idea of what the job entails can act as a form of self-selection too, attracting the more serious candidates. In other words they can judge whether the role is right for them by getting an idea of the seniority of the role from the salary, responsibilities and skills required. Accordingly if this information is missing it may lead to either too few or too many applications due to candidates incorrectly judging their suitability.
Make Sure There Is Enough Incentive to Attract Suitable Candidates
Give an idea of how possible it is to progress from the salary starting point in terms of bonuses for meeting goals. Also the opportunities for training in regard for promotion. By the same token pensions and allowances for company cars or travel benefits or working from home should all be in the job descriptions and be part of discussions with candidates. Finally mention healthcare packages that are included.
Keep an Up-to-Date Database of Candidate Details for Future Use
When you have successfully placed a candidate – or if someone with potential didn’t quite fit with a position – keep in touch with them so they will be inclined to keep their details and current position up to date. So as they progress through their career you have the option to connect with them again should a position that fits their profile come up.
Use social Media and a Prominent Website
Twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook all provide opportunities for getting the word out of your latest positions. Linked in and Facebook Ads should be used to access the millions of users out there. Spending a little time in targeting your ad can bring dividends. This allows you to select location, workplace and lookalikes meaning you could target a specific company’s employees or users with a similar profile to a candidate you particularly rate. LinkedIn of course provides searches through detailed profiles which give a good flavour of the qualities of each individual.
The well-branded recruitment company website that works on all devices is still a massive part of the picture. Its prominence in the major search engines makes all the difference. Set out listings of job vacancies in a way that makes it easy for candidates to get in touch. This can be a large mobile-friendly button just for that purpose.
Create an App for Your Recruitment Agency
Again having a branded mobile app makes it straightforward for candidates to keep up to date with the latest job offerings that are coming through your agency. Not to mention by signing up to the app on the device which is always with them means in situations where these busy individuals are waiting or traveling they can spend time interacting with your agency’s latest. Also this means that push notifications can alert them to the latest suitable role. Equally apps can be tailored with special features with ways that candidates can prepare themselves such as standard interview questions to be ready for.
Target Specialist Candidates Where They Interact
Additionally for particular roles it may be beneficial to advertise in a part of the web where specifically those type of candidates get together. So this may involve placing adverts in forums related to a particular specialty.
